Reuters, Deauville, France, May 26, 2011 – French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday new sanctions would be taken against Iran,accusing it of taking advantage of the Arab Spring to press ahead with its nuclear programme.

Speaking at the closing news conference of a Group of Eight summit in northern France, Sarkozy said the leaders had determined that Iran had used the uprisingsin the Arab world to continue what Western countries believe is a programme to develop nuclear weapons — a charge Tehran denies.

We shall take new measures to reinforce again sanctions against it,” Sarkozy said.
