The people of Samarra in Iraq staged protests and demonstrations on Monday in solidarity with the uprisings in Ramadi and Mosul, chanting “People demand government overthrow”.
Thousands of Samarra residents began an unlimited sit-in and protest in solidarity with the people of al-Anbar Province, demanding the downfall of Maliki’s government. Samarra demonstrators set ablaze to the flag of the mullahs’ regime, protesting Iran’s interference in Iraq and its support of Nouri Maliki.
The uprising protesters chanted, “People demand government overthrow”, “Samarra, free, free, cruelty, out, out”, and “No to sectarianism, release female prisoners”.
International media outlets showed images of protesters trampling pictures of Ahmadinejad in Ramadi, where demonstrators have blocked an international highway linking Baghdad to Syria for nearly two weeks demanding the release of prisoners and Maliki stepping down.
