
The Iraqi Addustoor daily published a report on November 2nd citing a senior diplomatic source saying: “In the recent meeting between the Iranian regime’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, Maliki agreed to assist the Syrian regime to confront popular protests.”
Salehi announced to the Iraqi government the necessity to continue supporting Damascus in defying protests and the importance of maintaining this support for Assad, this source added.
Salehi and the Iraqi government discussed the possibility of establishing an air and ground network between Tehran, Baghdad and Damascus to transfer all the necessary supplies in order to support the Syrian regime, the senior diplomatic source explained.
