Iraqi MP Mohammad Reza al-Khafaji from the al-Ahrar parliamentary faction – affiliated to the Sadr movement – called on Maliki to step down from his post, the ‘Kol al-Iraq’ news agency reported on Sunday, January 6th.
“The best solution to end the crisis and the demonstrations taking place in numerous provinces to come to an end is for the prime minister to step down to prevent people’s bloodshed,” he added.
