President Obama’s decision to insert primary politics into his State of the Union address “degrades the presidency,” Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Wednesday, as it was reported by The Hill January 13, 2016.
Ryan said he does agree that “putting a religious test on anybody coming to this country is wrong,”
But the Speaker added that the president glossed over the economy and his foreign policy failures in the speech, adding that the country is heading in the wrong direction.
“Apparently ISIS is a bunch of guys riding around on trucks and a picture of good foreign policy is Syria,” Ryan said during the interview.
“My observation is that he looks at the world as if it is what he wishes it would be, not as it is,” he said.
