Russian soldiers detain residents remaining of Ghouta

Orient Net, 27 March 2018— Photos published on social media showed dozens of residents who preferred to stay in Ghouta, in the recent forced evacuation, detained by Assad regime militiamen and Russian soldiers in makeshift detentions.

Young men who recently left Saqba, Hammouriya and Kafarbatna appear in the photos gathered in a school in lines, patrolled by Russian soldiers, while other photos showed regime militiamen questioning other civilians.

Orient News correspondent, in turn, confirmed the photos are taken in Saqba city, referring that those are the Ghouta residents who refused to be evacuated to north of Syria.

Forced evacuation from eastern Ghouta enclave continues after Al-Rahman Legion fighters and other residents started to leave Ghouta’s central pocket based on a ceasefire agreement with Russia.

Douma city is the only remaining pocket under opposition control, after regime assault, backed by Russian air force, splintered Ghouta into three pockets, killing at least 1400 civilians, according to Syria Civil Defense.
