Russian air strikes destroy rural Idlib’s last operating hospital

Orient Net,Feb. 15, 2018—  Russian aircraft, backing Assad regime in its assault against rebel-held Idlib enclave, targeted on Wednesday the ‘Sham’ makeshift hospital in southern Idlib countryside’s Has village, taking the hospital completely out of service.

Orient news correspondent said two Russian air strikes hit the hospital with high explosive bombs, destroying the building and wounding several medics.

‘Sham’ hospital for surgery was the last operating medical center in Idlib countryside, providing services for more than 300 people, our correspondent added.

Regime attacks and Russian air strikes in rural Idlib have recently destroyed the Maarat Al-Numan hospital and the Saraqeb ‘Odai’ hospital, to be added to 18 other medical centers all taken out of action due to regime’s assault in the area.

Last month, the UN regional coordinator for the Syria crisis condemned the recent wave of airstrikes on medical centers in rebel-held parts of Syria “depriving hundreds of thousands of people of their basic right to health.”
