Popular resistance forces battling in northern Yemen

20 Houthi militants and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah were killed as a result of airstrikes by Arab coalition warplanes in the city of Ta’izz, Al Jazeera TV reported on Tuesday, August 25th.
For the first time Arab coalition warships launched major artillery barrages on Houthi positions west of the city of Ta’izz. Local sources said three Houthi militants were killed and two members of the popular resistance forces lost their lives in these fronts.
Popular resistance forces also targeted Houthi positions in the town of Atma in Dhamar Province. These battles have been raging on for a few days now. Houthi militants have called for reinforcements in an attempt to not lose these grounds as it is strategically important due to its close distance from the Yemeni capital of Sana’a.
