
INTV, 9 Oct 2013 – United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay expressed deep concerns regarding dangerous human rights violations in Iraq.
She warned Maliki’s government to respond to UN calls to stop capital punishment, adding with the poor conditions of judicial rulings being carried out and obtaining confessions under torture, currently 1,200 are on death row in Iraq.
Iraq executed 123 people in 2012 and 72 so far this year, in addition to ongoing cruel arrests.
