Palestine voted as ‘non-member observer’ state

EuroNews, 30 Nov 2012 – The United Nations General Assembly in its Thursday session gave Palestine 138 positive, 9 negative and 41 abstain votes, improving the status of Palestine from a “permanent observer” to a “non-member observer” of this world body.
Therefore, Palestine can now seek membership in UN bodies and other international organizations. With this positive vote, Palestinians also became one step closer to establishing an independent state.
