Over a thousand sheikhs in six Iraqi provinces sign oath of ‘dignity’

Over a thousand sheikhs from six provinces across Iraq gathered in the restive city of Samarra to sign an oath of ‘dignity’ aimed at saving their country and expressing their support for Iraqi demonstrators, al-Mada Press news agency reported.
The signing sheikhs stressed their pact “sends a message to those sitting in the Green Zone and those who are hiding in Qom” (referring to a holy city in Iran where many of the regime’s most senior clerics are stationed). These sheikhs demand a new constitution for Iraq and declared “sectarian hands” had codified the current constitution.
