NHK, 13 April 2018— The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons says its fact-finding mission is on its way to Syria to investigate an alleged gas attack.

The OPCW released a statement on Thursday that says the mission is heading for the town in eastern Ghouta, near Damascus.

The Hague-based organization says the team will start an investigation into the suspected use of chemical weapons on Saturday. The statement does not say how long the probe will continue.

Attention is focused on whether the fact-finding mission will affect US President Donald Trump’s possible military response to the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government.
