Obama rejects Maliki’s request for meeting on UNGA sidelines

US President Barack Obama has rejected Nouri Maliki’s request for a meeting at the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York, al-Iraqiya TV reported.
“American and Iraqi sources announced Prime Minister Nouri Maliki has cancelled his trip to the US due to the fact the White House rejected his request for a meeting with President Obama,” the Sahat al-Tahrir website reported from Washington.
In addition to this, other sources have announced Iraq’s speech in the General Assembly will not be presented by Maliki, but by Vice President Khozeir al-Khazaii.
Al-Iraqiya TV also reported Khazaii will be leading the Iraqi delegation heading to New York to take part in the UN General Assembly.
