Obama calls Iraqi finance minister on office raid

In an urgent phone call, US President Barack Obama spoke with Iraqi Finance Minister Rafe al-Issawi regarding the recent raid by Maliki’s forces against al-Issawi’s office and home.
Al-Hurra TV announced the American Ambassador delivered his memorandum to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari protesting the attack against Rafe al-Issawi’s security team. In response to Maliki’s measures, al-Issawi’s office called for protest demonstrations after Friday prayers.
“We call on the Iraqi Parliament for a no-confidence vote against Maliki’s government,” al-Issawi said in a press conference.
“The same scenario carried out against Tareq al-Hashemi is being implemented against Rafe al-Issawi,” he added.
“You are a person that doesn’t recognize mutual participation and do not respect the law,” he said in remarks to Maliki.
“I am not a person to become afraid or one who backs down, even if I alone remained,” al-Issawi stressed.
