Thousands of migrants in Europe and especially Italy, in the cities of Rome and Venice, marched in support of Syrian refugees. The number of demonstrators in Rome reached 2,000 people.
A similar rally in Venice saw hundreds of people rush to the streets and demonstrate outside the Venice Film Festival site as they expressed their sympathy with migrants who have fled poverty and war in Africa and the Middle East.
Most of the migrants entering Greece and Hungary through Turkey are from the Middle East, and those entering Italy after daring the the Mediterranean Sea are from Africa.
