Almost 2000 people have died in the Mediterranean Sea, this year alone. Today an emergency European Summit is going to discuss how to stop human traffickers and to save the migrants from being exploited by the illegal networks.

Ministers will also have to consider how they could improve the rescue efforts in the Mediterranean, and another key issue is going to be how to help individual EU Nations take on most of the migrants. Experts would also advise Europe on the need to look at working with countries where many of the migrants come from.
