On March 5, 2008, Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain in his presidential campaign meeting in Texas said that he will concentrate his foreign policy on fighting against Islamist extremism.

He added that reconstruction of Armed Forces, intelligence organs, diplomacy system, and all administration organizations is necessary to fight against Islamist extremism.

He added that in order to win this battle, the Muslims who advocate the tolerant sentiment of Islam and form the majority of Muslims have to be supported.
