Two senior Khmer Rouge officials were convicted to life in prison on charges of crime against humanity. This court was held under the support of the United Nations. One of the officials convicted in this court was deputy of the Khmer Rouge leader and the other was a leader of the government at the time.
During the reign of terror the Khmer Rouge nearly two million people lost their lives in Cambodia.
