The French Le Monde daily headlined an exceptional visit by a French President to a rare GCC meeting as “the Arab countries count on French support.” In this article the Le Monde wrote French President Francois Hollande is the first western leader to take part in a GCC official meeting. This extraordinary visit and invitation of a French president is a sign of dissatisfaction of Arab leaders of Washington.
Le Monde added that this visit and fine reception happens at a time where the Middle Eastern countries are worried of the US-Iran relations. President Hollande close aides say that France is clearly worried of the prospect of the sanctions’ relief on Iran. This worrisome is shared by Persian Gulf countries as well.
