In an interview with Al-Arabia T.V. on Oct. 5, the US ambassador to the UN Zalmay Khalilzad said: “if Iran does not suspend its nuclear program, serious and new punitive measures will be implemented against this regime.” He added: “we must keep discussion with other permanent members of the Security Council in order to increase pressure and adopt tougher punitive measures against Iranian regime.”
Khalilzad said: “we agreed to give time to Mr. El-Baradei to receive Iranian regime’s answer, and also we will give time for negotiations between Javier Solana and Larijani to reach an agreement for stopping Iranian regime’s nuclear activities. Meanwhile we will prepare a new resolution for more severe punishments, and if the Iranian regime does not cooperate with us we must stand firm and serious before this regime.”
