Iraq’s vice president: We had nothing to talk with Ahmadinejad

In an interview with Abu Dhabi TV, Tariq al-Hashemi, the Iraqi vice president said that the Iranian government continues its meddling in Iraq and has changed nothing in its behavior

Pointing out that he hasn’t met with Ahmadinejad in his trip to Iraq, Hashemi said: “I had nothing to say to Ahmadinejad. I said what I had to say during my visit to Tehran, and also I had said the same demands to Iranian delegations visiting Iraq. However, so far I have seen no change in Iran’s stances regarding Iraq. “

Tariq al-Hashemi added: Iraqi government has condemned repeated meetings between Iran and the US regarding Iraq’s security situation. Iraq does not empower any party to interfere in Iraq’s affairs. We condemn repeated meetings between the US and Iran about Iraq. We have no obligation to go with their agreements. This is clear evidence that proves Iran’s meddling in Iraq which is none of its business.

Regarding his differences with the Prime Minister, al- Hashemi said: The political and nationalistic stance wants reforms, but there is another tendency which believes that the current situation in Iraq is at its optimum and has to be maintained; this is our main dispute. I do not hide that we have many differences in how to run the government. So far none of the meetings (with Iran) has had any outcome to reduce the differences.
