The Iraqiya Coalition issued a statement condemning the assassination attempt against MP Dr. Ahmad al-Alwani, Chair of the Iraqi Parliament Economy Commission.
The NINA news agency cited the statement as saying the ‘hands of treason continue to play with Iraq’s security. They are attempting to destroy Iraq’s security through their crimes, with the latest example being the assassination attempt against Iraqi MP Ahmad al-Alwani from the Iraqiya Coalition.’
In its statement, the Iraqiya Coalition expressed its surprise of repeating assassination attempts in this region. It reminded two other terrorist attacks against MP Salman al-Jomeili, President of the Iraqiya Parliamentary Coalition and the attempt against another Iraqiya member, MP Hamed al-Mutlak.
“In our opinion, attempts to assassinate MPs from the Iraqiya or other coalitions, is because of their nationalistic and principled positions. However, these schemes will not weaken our will and stances, and we will defend our positions at all costs,” the statement added.
