Angry protesters and demonstrators from across Iraq gathered in Ramadi in al-Anbar Province on Thursday calling for the overthrow of Maliki’s overthrow, Al Jazeera TV reported.
“Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis gathered in Ramadi’s ‘Dignity’ Square. Organizers said delegations from various provinces also took part in this gathering where demonstrators reiterated the demands of protesters in Mosul and other cities,” Al Jazeera reported.
“People are not convinced with Maliki’s measures of releasing just a few prisoners whose terms were already finished. Demonstrators here are calling for their demands to be met, stressing they will not back down at all,” the report continued.
Tribal sheikhs from the cities of Samawa and Nosseriya also expressed their solidarity with demonstrators in Ramadi and Mosul, Baghdad TV reported.
Furthermore, tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Iraq’s Wasset Province joined the demonstrations calling on Maliki’s government to meet demonstrators’ demands.
