In an interview with Rafidain TV, Sheikh Ahmad al-Ghanim, head of the Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs’ Council, said: “All catastrophes that the people of Basra suffer are the outcome of Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq.

Regarding the violent clashes and crisis in Basra, he said: Some political parties pursue the Iranian regime’s orders. They want to promote religionism and sectarianism and to ruin the unity of this nation, particularly in the south where is very wealthy. These conflicts are for controlling these wealth especially oil; also the elections are close and they have to provide conditions to make the elections to their benefit.

Sheikh Gahnim added: Basra has suffered many calamities which are totally the outcome of the meddling by Iranian regime and its mercenaries.
