Ayatollah Hussein Moayyed, a prominent Iraqi Shiite clergy and the leader of the National Current of Iraq, regarded Iran as the cause and sponsor of the current disastrous situation in Iraq, reported Iraq’s News Agency.

He considered Iran’s meddling in Iraq very dangerous and said based on reliable documents, I warned the Iranian regime for its interventions; such interventions are hateful.

Moayyed added that the Iranian regime seeks to be a regional power, and Iraq is at the center of gravity of its strategy, because Iran considers Iraq as the gate to penetrate into the Middle East. This regime is not after Islam and Shiism, but has expansionist intentions and abuses religion to pursue its goals.
