Iraqi Presidency: Maliki has no impunity.
The Iraqi Parliament has transferred the Mosul collapse file to the judiciary and the Iraqi Presidency emphasizes Maliki enjoys no impunity.
The Iraqi Parliament approved the referral of the Mosul collapse file to the judiciary branch, and Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri said all incidents and names are included in this report without any exceptions and it will be transferred to the judiciary.
This report includes the names of figures such as former prime minister Nouri Maliki. Due to disputes the Parliament was not able to read a summary of this report, but they were able to put it to vote, and this report and its full dossier will be sent to the public prosecutor to have the necessary measures taken against those individuals responsible for the fall of Mosul.
“No name has been excluded from this report and they will all be delivered to the judiciary,” Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri said.
This Iraqi Parliament decision comes a few days after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s reforms, which were also approved by the Parliament. Under these reforms all vice presidents – including Maliki – were dismissed and he is currently fired from all government posts and no longer enjoys any impunity to prevent his accountability.
On the other hand, Iraqi President Fuad Masum issued a statement saying al-Abadi’s reform package, including dismissing all vice presidents, has become legitimized under the Parliament’s approval and the President has not requested to maintain any of his deputies.
