Iraqi Tribes Parliament – We consider the Iraqi Criminal Court ruling against Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi as targeting this country’s nationalistic symbols. We see no legal value in this vengeful ruling. While condemning this ruling, we call on the international community to intervene immediately in this regard.
Kurdish Writers Council – As stated before by the Kurdistan Regional Government President, the Kurdish Writers Council considers the judicial system as a tool in the hands of Nouri Maliki and condemns the death sentence issued for Mr. Tareq al-Hashemi. Due to the Iranian regime’s interferences and Maliki refusing to live up to his commitments and agreements, the political process in Iraq has come to a failure. The recent wave of executions has engulfed all of Iraq’s society and is threatening the country’s future.
National Chaldean Movement – The National Chaldean Movement condemns the death sentence in absentia against Iraqi Vice President Dr. Tareq al-Hashemi. We consider this as a politically motivated decision and a coup d’état against the law. We announce the government’s interferences in the judicial branch and eliminating its political opponents through enforcing pressure on the country’s judicial apparatus have placed Iraq at the edge of a cliff.
Association of Physicians and Academicians Defending Human Rights – The verdict issued against the Iraqi Vice President is a politically motivated ruling. Considering the fact that Iraq’s judiciary is under the influence of the executive branch, Amnesty International the UN High Commission for Human Rights have called on Iraq to halt all executions in this country.
Center of Studies for Development and Human Rights in Iraq – We condemn this ruling and coincidently, we call on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to intervene to have this verdict cancelled.
