Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi criticized the continuing bombings of Fallujah by Maliki forces despite a 72-hour ceasefire, holding the government responsible for the expansion of violence across the country.
Nujaifi said sidelining the Iraqi Parliament in the Anbar crisis is unacceptable according to the constitution.
“Stopping the war in just 72 hours is abnormal. The ceasefire must be fully implemented,” he said.
“During these 72 hours the bombings continued. Matters are not managed like this and the Parliament’s opinion must also be taken into consideration. The Council of Representatives has been completely sidelined in the Anbar crisis and this is a major issue. It is a subject important for all Iraqis and related to all provinces. The government is acting alone without asking the parliament… these measures are against the constitution,” he added
