The Iraqi National Tribal Council (INTC) released a statement urging the US forces to protect Ashraf City according to the Geneva Conventions and to be bound to all their commitments with regard to Ashraf protection and to prevent a human tragedy for its residents.

The INTC statement, published by Sawt al-Iraq website, read: We, as the sheikhs’ council regard the Iranian regime’s pressure for transferring Ashraf protection as a trap for Iraqi government; the first loser of this issue is the Iraqi government and the winner is the Iranian regime. We say no to the Iranian regime and its terrorism and yes to democratic Iran that respects human rights and international laws.
