Iraqi MPs call for questioning of Maliki’s justice minister

Iraqi MP Heidar al-Mulla from the Iraqiya Coalition said a request has been submitted carrying the signatures of 100 Iraqi MPs calling for Maliki’s Justice Minister Hassan al-Shemeri to appear before the Parliament and explain the conditions in the country’s prisons and illegal detention centers.
In an interview with Baghdad TV, al-Mulla stressed these conditions are deeply concerning, especially the issue of women being raped in Maliki’s prisons and illegal detention centers.
Various security apparatuses and military commanders, such as the 54th and 56th brigades, are running detention centers where they are committing the most vicious violations of human rights, the Iraqiya Coalition spokesman added.
