An Iraqi Kurdistan media outlet reported, “An informed source working in an international organization linked to the UN revealed: UNAMI, led by Nickolay Mladenov, has held talks with the Sadrists, Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq and the Muttahedoon Coalition discussing the political trend and period after Maliki.”
“UNAMI in Baghdad is attempting to become familiar with the positions of the influential political parties in Iraq, and especially with those parties that are not willing to trust Maliki with a third term as prime minister,” this source added.
“UNAMI in Iraq is trying to evaluate the political future in this country and this is in the center of UNAMI’s activities to determine the opinions of these parties and their role in the political trend after the upcoming general elections,” the source continued.
