Coinciding with warnings issued by the UN and human rights organizations on ordinary people lacking humanitarian supplies and the siege imposed on the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi by Maliki’s government, local Iraqi TV stations reported Maliki’s military forces are preventing the delivery of six flat-bed trucks full of humanitarian supplies to the people of Fallujah, forcing them to return to Baghdad. Maliki’s military troops even opened fire on this convoy.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Washington is currently imposing pressure on Maliki to focus on political reconciliation.
