Iraqi Bar Association boycotts participation in all Iraqi courts

The Iraqi Bar Association announced its decision to boycott participation in all Iraqi courts. This decision has been made in protest to the widespread violation of Iraqi lawyers’ rights by Nouri Maliki’s government.
“This boycott will continue until the lawyers’ demands are met by the Supreme Judiciary Council and rights violations cease,” Iraqi Bar Association President Muhammad al-Faisal said.
Iraqi Union of Jurists President Ali al-Shemeri said in an interview with al-Rafidain TV, “This union announces its solidarity with the Bari Association and approves their boycott.”
