Iraqi Army cracks down on protesters complaining bad service conditions

Al-Baghdadiya TV, 22 Oct 2012 – Iraqi Army forces in Missan Province surrounded the Salam region this morning to prevent further protests and demonstrations.
The Al-Baghdadiya TV reporter said following the events yesterday, Army forces have established a security siege at the city entrances. Yesterday, people staged a demonstration protesting dismal service conditions, the reporter added, saying tribal sheikhs and dignitaries of this region went to the provincial offices to file a complaint against the officers and forces that attacked the people.
Security forces attacked demonstrators yesterday first with batons, then by firing bird-shots, taking action to disperse the crowd. Two demonstrators were injured as a result of the shootings, one being a child. Security forces also attacked journalists and reporters, preventing them from covering the demonstration.
