Asharqiya TV reported: In order to prevent arms smuggle and entrance of armed persons from Iran, the Iraqi and British forces have extended their forces in the Eastern section of Arvand River along with Iran-Iraq border in the point of Talveg Line up to the north of Persian Gulf and the entrance of city of Faw.
On Friday, Captain Caseford, the British Forces spokesman in Basra, said: The responsibility of British forces in this mission is support of the Iraqi Forces in order to prevent moles and arms smuggling into Iraq from Iran by armed men.
He added: This measure indicates the MNF-I commitment to continue support for the Iraqi Security forces in protection of Basra vis-à-vis rushing in smuggled arms that has disordered the city’s security.
