Baghdad’s Tahrir Square and a number of other provinces witnessed massive rallies against corruption and in support of reforms in Iraq on Friday, August 28th. Security forces carried out massive measures to protect the demonstrators, al-Iraqiya TV said.
The town of Khalis in the restive Diyala Province witnessed a large rally in support of reforms and people demanding action against corruption. Demonstrators chanted slogans against corrupt individuals and demanding the implementation of reforms. Tribal sheikhs and clerics also took part in this rally. Khalis locals called for the dossiers of corrupt officials to be sent to court immediately. They also demanded Khalis governor Odey Khadran to be set aside.
