Sheikh Ali Hatam, emir of the Duleim tribe in an interview with Sky News on Thursday, August 20th called for the prosecution of former Iraqi prime minister and dismissed vice president Nouri al-Maliki.
Sky News: Maliki has returned to Iraq and it is said that heavy political pressures will be placed to delist him from the list of Mosul collapse suspects. Is this possible?
Sheikh Ali Hatam Suleiman: If Maliki is taken off this list, then who will be guilty? Who was running the security apparatus and who was the commander-in-chief? We all know that Maliki went to Tehran to have Iran place pressure on Shiite parties in Baghdad to relieve him from this mess.
As the people and tribes in western Iraq we are demanding the prosecution of Maliki. If this is not realized I believe there will be no peace in Iraq. Why are they not allowing the State-of-Law coalition go to hell? No one needs them now.
