Iraq: protesters call on PM al-Abadi to speed-up reforms

In yet another Friday of demonstrations across Iraq, protesters called on Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi to accelerate the rate of reforms, Al Arabiya TV reported. This time the demonstrators were demanding words to be seen in action.
Groups of people poured to the various squares of Baghdad and then other provinces. Security forces were present in these squares to provide protection for demonstrators that may be targeted for supporting reforms.
Locals in the town of Khalis in Diyala Province called for the governorate building to be opened after this facility has been closed for a week. Following the sacking of the town’s governor and a number of other figures accused of corruption the demonstrators were calling for their further demands to be met. However, they emphasized to continue their rallies until all their demands are met.
In Meisan the protestors named this Friday’s demonstrations as “Warning”. In Basra protesters were scene rallying outside the governorate building.
In Waset Province police were seen establishing security circles around the site of the demonstration.
As Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani once again called for speedy government reforms launched by al-Abadi, the Prime Minister’s Office issued an order sacking 123

officials and directors from their positions in government administrative offices.
