Iraq: Parliament reform plan calls for urgent steps to approve National Guard Law & judicial-administrative reforms

The Iraqi Parliament on Tuesday, August 11th debated and approved its own reform package to complete Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s decision.
This reform package calls for setting aside officials that demonstrators have demanded be held accountable to have them ripped of their impunity; approving the oil and gas law; the law on parties and federal courts; covenant laws; federal parliament law; amnesty law and laws on national reconciliation, and the national guard law.
Iraq’s state-run al-Iraqiya TV declared: “The Iraqi Parliament congratulated the approval of the Prime Minister’s reforms and went on to declare it backs these measures with its own reform package.
