Demonstrators set Maliki’s pictures on fire
According to Iraqi media, in an unprecedented transition within Iraqi Shiites, widespread demonstrations were staged against Nouri Maliki in the cities of Baghdad and Basra.
In the populated Sadr City in Baghdad and also in the streets of Basra, protesters paid no attention to security measures and staged demonstrations against Nouri Maliki’s insulting remarks against Moqtada al-Sadr.
Al-Sharqiya TV reported: “The city of Basra was the scene of furious demonstrations against Maliki’s remarks”. Demonstrators said: “Maliki is to blame for the government’s disorder, and it was once again proven that his State of Law is neither a state nor any law, and is only the state of crisis and nothing else. Their goal in causing these crises is to cover up their corruption cases.
A demonstrator in Basra said: “Nouri Maliki must immediately apologize for his remarks against Moqtada al-Sadr”.
The Al-Mada Daily reported that in an unprecedented event among Iraqi Shiites, protesters in Baghdad and Basra set Maliki’s pictures on fire in their demonstrations.
Demonstrators chanted slogans against Nouri Maliki and his policies and held pictures that showed Maliki has a Dracula, then set them on fire, the al-Mada daily reported.
