Sky News TV reported on Monday, August 17th: Iraqi government documents have revealed that former prime minister [and dismissed vice president] Nouri al-Maliki was very much involved in weakening the army and security forces from 2006 to 2014. Based on one of these document the executive branch had in the span of four months ordered 7,411 military personnel to provide protection for 18 figures, including Maliki. Another document shows Maliki had established battalions in the army with the sole mission to protect various officials, and they had nothing to do with protecting the country.
Former Iraqi MP Wael Abdul-latif said this policy, adopted and pursued by Maliki, wasted $48 billion of the people’s wealth.
