
INTV, 11 Oct 2013 – Friday unity prayers and demonstrations against Maliki’s sectarian policies and insults against Iraq’s Sunni figures were staged in the six uprising provinces. In Baghdad, al-Anbar, Salahaddin, Neinawa, Kirkuk and Diyala demonstrators pressed their demands and held rallies despite Maliki’s repressive measures.
The Iraqi people’s demonstrations today were held while Maliki’s forces resorted to numerous suppressive measures. In Kirkuk, Maliki’s forces arrested Akram al-Obeidi, spokesman of the popular committees in this city. Baghdad TV aired this news adding, “The unit that arrested al-Obeidi was in plain clothing.”
Baghdad TV also reported, “A leading sheikh was injured in an armed attack against a mosque in west Mosul.”
Simultaneously, al-Sharqiya TV reported that Iraq’s Ministry of Communications had announced that today all Internet services would be down.
