Al-Taqeer TV reported Maliki’s security forces opened fire on hundreds of high school students protesting Sunday, July 13th, in Baghdad’s al-Karkh region. These students were protesting the Ministry of Education’s decision that announced them as failing their school year classes. This ministry had announced hundreds of students failed their classes this year under the pretext that they cheated on their final exams.

The protesting students described this decision as cruel and accused the ministry of violating their rights. The parents of these students were protesting along their side, yet Maliki’s forces responded by opening fire on all of them.
