The Al-Jazeera T.V. on Jan. 4, broadcasted an interview with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon in which he emphasized that the Iranian regime had not abided by the demands of the UN Security Council resolutions, and the decision for further punitive measures will be the mandate of the UN Security Council.
Replying to a question about position of Secretary General on dealing with Iran after the NIE report by US intelligence, which some countries refer to as no need for further measures against Iran and some countries like the UK, the USA and France insist on more measures to be taken? He said: “Regardless of what was said by the US intelligence community what has not changed is that the Iranian regime has not been bound to the UN Security Council resolutions and demands to stop uranium enrichment. The subject of punitive measures depends on the members of the Security Council.”
He added: “Iranian regime must comply with its commitments on the UN Security Council resolutions and the IAEA completely and by all means.”
