Al-Arabiya TV reported citing a document released by WikiLeaks on Monday, 13 December 2010, the Iranian regime, in order to spread influence over Iraqi sheikhs and tribal leaders, places women in their hands under the cover of ‘concubine’.
According to a disclosed document from US Embassy cables in Baghdad, one of the methods used by the clerical regime to strengthen influence in Iraq is through the use of women who are given to sheikh, whom for any reason or excuse travel to Iran, under the terms of a ‘temporary commitment’.
In this document released by WikiLeaks, which was attained in the beginning of 2010 yet only recently exposed to the public, an Iraqi sheikh has been quoted as telling a US Embassy staff member in Baghdad: “The Iranian regime, in order to strengthen its influence in Iraq, has given us women under ‘provisional concubine’ terms in every short trip we made to Iran.”
“Following my first visit to Iran, I realized that all of the sheikhs who visited Iran have benefited from ‘temporary marriage’,” the sheikh continued.
“Every time we travel to Iran, we tell our family that our trip is for the purpose of medical treatment. Yet, to tell you the truth, we enjoy the opportunities that Iranian officials create for us in benefiting from ‘provisional women’, and this has become the main reason of our travel to Iran.”
