AFP, Brasilia, March 3, 2010 – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Wednesday warned Brazil that Iran will only negotiate over its suspect nuclear program once fresh sanctions are imposed.
’Only after we pass sanctions will Iran negotiate in good faith,’ Clinton said at a testy news conference with her Brazilian counterpart Celso Amorim.
Brazil is resisting US-led moves to impose a fourth set of UN sanctions on Iran over its continued defiance of demands from the international community to halt its uranium enrichment program.
At the press conference Clinton was repeatedly questioned by local journalists as to why the United States was pushing so hard for more sanctions.
