US President George W. Bush said Thursday that Iran and Syria must “stop supporting violence and terrorism” in Iraq, and that Iraq’s other neighbors need to do more to bring peace to the country, French news agency (AFP) reported from Dayton, Ohio.
“The regimes in Iran and Syria must stop supporting violence and terrorism” in Iraq, Bush said in a speech in Dayton.
He added that he will soon meet Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker to discuss latest development in Iraq. About continuation of US presence in Iraq Pres. Bush said that pulling out the forces from Iraq is a signal to Iran that US is not serious about domination of Iran in the region.
He said America has no more strategic interest than Iraq, which he called the ’’convergence point for the twin threats of al-Qaida and Iran.’’
