Iran forced to leave Malaysian defense show for exhibiting missile products

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AP) _ Malaysia’s deputy prime minister says Iran has been ordered to leave an international defense show in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak said Iranian firms exhibited missile-related products at the Defense Services Asia show that were “offensive” and contravened U.N. rules.

Najib told reporters Thursday that Malaysian authorities had “no option” but to tell Iran to leave. “Unfortunately, when we came around to inspecting their stand, they displayed equipment that clearly contravened the U.N. resolution – equipment such as missiles and missile systems and others,” Najib told reporters.

“The moment they crossed the line, we had no option but to terminate them,” Najib added.
Najib said the exhibit was in defiance of U.N. resolutions that ban Iranian arms exports and forbid countries from providing Iran with technical and financial assistance that could contribute to its alleged nuclear weapons program.

The annual show began Monday with hundreds of exhibitors from about 50 nations.
