On Nov. 17, in an interview with Al-Arabia T.V. former Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Ayad Allawi revealed during the time he was in Baghdad he was warned that his life was in great danger and Iranian regime officially had called for attempt against his life.
In other part of his interview he said: “two weeks ago when I was in Baghdad, through Iraqi intelligence system and friend countries including U.S., I was told I was in serious danger.”
Answering a question whether Iranian regime is seeking an attempt against his life or is trying to distance him from Iraqi political scene, Allawi said: “Iranian regime clearly took position against me and officially announced it in the conference for future of Iraq in Sharm al-Sheikh. Even before that, they had also clearly said several times that Ayad Allawi is their red line. It is not only restricted to Iraq; it happens inside and outside Iraq; but we can not abandon Iraq; we are part of this country and its society and it is impossible for us to discard Iraq.”
