Al Arabiya with AFP, 6 Oct 2013 – The German ambassador to Yemen avoided an abduction attempt on Sunday in the capital Sanaa, Al Arabiya’s correspondent reported.
Ambassador Carola Muller-Holtkemper’s bodyguard was killed by gunmen who attempted to kidnap the envoy while she was leaving a store in Sanaa’s Hada district, according to Agence France-Presse.
Germany was among several Western countries, including the United States, which closed their embassies in August following U.S. warnings of an al-Qaeda attack.
